Discipline

A quick shout out to my sister Norma A. at GTT. She was really the inspiration for my next series of posts. I have been reading the book "Celebration of Discipline" by Richard Foster. I had decided that I would read through this book this year and put the spiritual disciplines into better practice. Norma heard about it and asked me to give her weekly summaries of what I was reading. I thought that these summaries would be great on a blog for all to see. I really recommend the book. A summary just doesn't cut it. The book celebrated it's 25th year anniversary. That says something doesn't it...?

Here are the Spiritual Disciplines:
  1. Meditation
  2. Prayer
  3. Fasting
  4. Study
  5. Simplicity
  6. Solitude
  7. Submission
  8. Service
  9. Confession
  10. Worship
  11. Guidance
  12. Celebration

I will try to summarize the chapters and give some of his quotes and my thoughts. I am looking forward to what 2005 has to offer. I believe that God will show us grace the more we move within the sphere of these disciplines. Feel free to join me on this journey. It can only bring about good in our life!

Now Entering The Blogosphere...

Well, here it goes...My first entry into the "published blogosphere". Ok I did have a unpublished blog for practice but that doesn't count. I saw a quote today on another Blog (http://www.wordonwomack.com/). Thought I would share it to give a good start to my blogging. So here it goes...

Four Simple Assumptions
...by making four simple assumptions in our
lives we can immediately begin to leading a more balanced, integrated, powerful
life.

For the body - assume you've had a heart attack;
now live accordingly.
For the mind - assume the
half-life of your profession is two years; now prepare accordingly.
For the heart - assume everything you say about another they can over hear; now speak accordingly.
For the spirit - assume you have a one-on-one visit with your Creator every quarter; now live accordingly.

Stephen Covey - The 8th Habit

Here's one of my own:
For Your Priorities- Assume that you have been told by reliable sources that Jesus will return sometime within the next year; now choose what you pursue accordingly...

Just a little something that makes you say Hmmmm...
